I wanted to thank all of you for leaving comments on our first Public Service Announcement (Tough Guy). The focus of the next three psa's will be directed squarely at Urban Black Fathers. Which means the message is directed and speaks solely to this demographic (no others, ie: mothers, other populations of fathers or service providers). The eight year old boy is speaking right into their conscience. From his perspective and from his frame of reference. (not the audience's frame of reference)

Over the next 3 years; we will be producing many PSA's for a myriad of messages. We have chosen at this time to maintain our focus on getting absent fathers involved in the lives of their children; regardless of their circumstance. Fathers Incorporated has taken the responsibility of delivering the "hard" and "accountability" messages. We are also not attempting with the video to "teach" or "give guidance" to what their next action should be. If one seeks that information; it will be readily available on our website. For those who don't have personal access to the internet, (which I don't believe is the case in the vast majority of them) will figure out how to obtain access to get to us. Lastly; the PSA is speaking to the desire of a boys heart, who recognizes his situation and only wants his father in his life. Therefore, additional messages of "validation or recognition" of anybody else who adds to his life will NOT be addressed in this PSA. Again, we are laser focused on a direct message from a son to his father; without the need or desire to validate others who contribute to his upbringing.

The length is the length; its PSA standard and we have chosen not to do 10sec and 30sec PSA's at this time.

Our method of distribution will be aim at television outlets and the internet. A package is being designed to go out with information about the work of responsible fatherhood (fact sheets, articles and resources). That along with the DVD that includes the PSA's will be included. In addition; the Ties Never Broken Campaign has over 50 National partners. All partners will asked to move the YouTube Versions of the PSA's through their networks, so that we can spread the messages quickly through our social networks. We will also ask that organizations place the psa's on their websites and facebook pages.

With our partners and media sponsors, we have estimated that the Ties Never Broken Campaign has a media reach of over 10 million people. We are also producing the audio versions for use on radio stations.

Again; Thank you...We are excited about the impact these PSA's will have on our families. HOWEVER, we can't do this without your help. We PROFESS and CLAIM that these PSA will get Millions of hits on YouTube. Again; it won't happen without your HELP and SUPPORT.

Kenny, this was a powerful message to fathers in the hood. You hit it on the head. This is a great P.S.A. that you need to get on the air waves. I would have like to see some numbers flash across the screen of statistic of children who come in contact with the legal system because the father is not involved. Once again great work as always.

Straight to the point. I agree with A.J. Artis, the mother and her important role should be included. A child should have two role models. A father is just as important role model for our young girls as well as a mother is important as a role model for our young boys. A child sees the world through the role models that surrounds him/her. Keep up the good work.
Peace

Brother Ken!

Great clip! Having this message come from a young boy is powerful and compelling. I think you could even do one that comes from a beautiful young girl with a different message about how she needs her daddy that could also be just as powerful and compelling.

Peace

Clearly we need more messaging around responsible fatherhood and this PSA will be a good addition. I agree with most of the comments re: length (should be shorter) and imaging (need to make sure to align the message--you're all I've got--with the photo of mom and sons) and would like to add one re: formatting. The audio could also be used for radio, but I think it would need to be shorter.

Very powerful Ken. I agree I would take out the line about his father being all he has. I also might try to shorten it a bit. The first few seconds, I had a little trouble hearing what was being said, but that may just be my computer.

This is not only powerful for dads but also for the many children that harbor those feelings without a means to communicate them. This piece can be impactful for all audiences, not only around advocacy but education and community conversations as well.

Powerful! This will go straight to any father's heart out there. If it doesn't! Nothing will. I love it. And kids who see this will definitely learn something from it; to stay away from temptation and be a better future father.

I like it and agree with some of the comments like Shawn, Ron and Alan to consider implementing some of their suggestions like adding the mom's role w/o the dad, taking out the sentence your the only thing I got. Ron's question about fathers being directed to resources in their communities that will help them to begin to build those relationships, some don't know where to start I'm sure. Alan's suggestion about giving fathers ideas on ways to connect. I would like to add that a line like "I would LOVE for you to be my most favorite male role model. Dad." To let the father know that even if someone else maybe a positive role model in the child's life, there is still room for Dad if he comes correct.
