2011-12 Holiday Appeal
FATHERS INCORPORATED BEGINS 2011-12 FUNDRAISING APPEAL
WE CAN DO A GREATER WORK WITH YOUR FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE
For the last two months of the year Fathers Incorporated will be engaged in its end of the year Financial Appeal. We are looking for your generous donation to helping create a more nurturing environment for children and families. Our appeal will be directed and two national campaigns; “TIES NEVER BROKENtm” AND “weMentor!tm”
If you are a partaker of the news, you can clearly see that our nation is struggling. Much of what we’ve seen around the world over the last several years with respect to public protest is becoming a part of our daily reality. People are frustrated, tired and fed-up. Most of America feels overburdened by the rising cost of living and the vulnerability of today’s economy. However, given this uncertainty, people of good will are still giving, donating and contributing to good causes that in turn help others in these times of crisis.
At Fathers Incorporated we have watched the communities we serve be increasingly hit by double-digit unemployment, skyrocketing gas and food prices, higher and increased hidden fees, fewer resources and unavoidable poverty. Social welfare programs are losing funding, government is cutting back and not-for-profit organizations are being forced to serve greater needs with much less.
For the past few years Fathers Incorporated has attempted to serve an area of our community most often ignored by social programs, governmental attention and corporate support. Fathers and men in low-income communities are often the forgotten when it comes to assisting a social need. For whatever one may think of fathers, their absence is creating a burden on the healthy development of our children and causing more and more families to exist in poverty. In African American communities 73% of their babies are born in to out-of-wedlock households. This is a critical and urgent reality because research reveals two things about these particular children and families; 1) the children are more likely to spend a significant portion of their lives absent the consistent interaction with the biological father and 2) the family is increasing more likely to exist in poverty for long periods of time.
YOUR CONTRIBUTION CAN HELP RAISE AWARENESS AND DRIVE ATTENTION TO THIS BODY OF WORK.
We have a goal to raise $25,000+ by December 31st. These funds will assist in the further development of both the TIES NEVER BROKEN and weMentor campaign. We are excited about the progress we have made in 2011. The agencies’ work and effort have deepened nationally and even touched the international shores of Africa. It is our goal to distribute one million Ties Never Broken pins in 2012 and reach 10 U.S. cities with the weMentor message to increase the number of African American male mentors. As our working partners and media sponsors continue to increase we are assured that the message of Responsible Fatherhood and Healthy Mentoring will reach those can assist in efforts to raise the awareness of this critical body of work.
Your donations can be made online or a check can be mailed to Fathers Incorporated; 307A Consaul Road, Albany, New York 12205.
We are already excited with anticipation of your positive response to our appeal. We would ask that you encourage your family, friends and co-workers to consider making Fathers Incorporated their holiday charity
